Black Friday Netbook Deals

What exactly is a netbook? It is a pocket laptop, the screens are usually between 7inches and 10 inches and they use the latest solid state hard drives.

Netbooks are not very powerful, they normally come with 1 or 2 gig of memory and 16gig hard drives. This means that they are great for shoving into your purse or your jacket pocket (yes some of them really are that small) and taking with you when you go on a trip. You can check your email, surf forums and watch videos but the limited screen size makes them pretty uncomfortable to work on for any extended amount of time.

Due to the lack of RAM (random access memory) they also are not really suitable for running power hungry programs, photoshop for example. When you buy a netbook you will normally find that it has windows XP on it, this is because Vista just won't run well on such small amounts of memory.

While all this may not sound very exciting there have been millions of them bought, so they must be fitting in with peoples needs. The big netbook brands are Acer and HP, although every major computer company is now producing them.

Make sure to look at the specs of every model before you buy it, if this is for a student or someone who will want to do some real work on them then you may need to consider spending a bit more and buying them a Laptop.
